Penguin Encounter

We took the kids to the Penguin Encounter at the Aquarium last week. Paul booked our tickets at the beginning of summer, and we have been keeping it secret from the kids for a couple months now. We knew they would be so excited that it would be a constant question of how many more days until they could meet the penguins. :) It was so fun to finally tell them about it a few days before and see that they really were just as excited as we thought they would be! Rockwell has absolutely loved penguins for years and years. He said, "Mom! Both of our dreams are going to come true. I get to meet penguins, and I want you to take as many pictures as you can!" I thought that was so cute.

The encounter is for up to 10 people, and we know that Wyatt also loves penguins and so we invited the Loosli's to come too. We got to learn a few things about penguins and get our coats on before going into the room where the penguins were. Once we were all sitting down, the worker opened the door to the penguin habitat and they all came marching in.
We each had a bowl with 5 fish in it, and the penguins definitely knew what to expect. They swarmed right up to us and opened their mouths for the fish. :) The penguins don't like to be touched, and so I was glad I wore shorts. They press right up on your legs as they're trying to get a fish and so I could feel their feathers on my legs.
Once they were certain that nobody had any fish left, the penguins would wander back and forth between the room we were in and their habitat.
This is Uno. He is the only penguin that has been raised by humans. He stayed in the room with us the whole time. It was fun to watch him stretch, scratch, and just chill with us. :)
Milo loved to play with these cubes and was in the room with us a lot of the time too.
It was seriously so cool to get to feed the penguins and watch them play and run around. They were adorable!

We spent a few hours seeing the rest of the aquarium before the Penguin Encounter. It's a pretty cool place!

  2. That looks so wonderful and you can see the excitement on the children's faces even with the masks on! I'm so glad you were able to do that and that it was such a great experience for you all! The pictures are great!
