Kauai Day 8

Sadly, our trip to Kauai came to an end. Our flight left Wednesday night, so we filled our day with dry activities. :) Bali Hai said we were welcome to use their property all day, so Paul did some work in the business center while the kids and I checked out the fish ponds and played fuse ball and ping pong.

We got one last shave ice at North Shore.
We drove down and watched Spouting Horn.
There were a few turtles swimming around there.
We went to the inlet that had all the turtles last time, but sadly there was only one turtle this time.
We've driven past Hanapepe a lot (and laughed at the name every time, haha!), but we haven't ever gone there. We decided to check the town out. We found the Aloha Spice Company store and Paul was excited to check that out. He usually buys some spices to bring home, but just gets them from an ABC store. It was fun to get some from the actual shop this time.
We walked across the Swinging Bridge.
On weekends, there's an art fair on the main street in Hanapepe. It was pretty dead while we were there, but there were some fun picture opportunities.
Hanapepe is the setting for the movie Lilo and Stitch.
Damon wanted a picture that looked like he was picking his nose. :)
We flew to Seattle overnight and then had a long layover there. Tessa loved that somebody had put googly eyes on the female outside the women's bathroom. (Remember when she put googly eyes on every single item in our fridge? Haha)
Rockwell got a real long nap at the airport. :)
It was another wonderful Barth family vacation!! Mahalo for now Kauai!

Kauai Day 7

For our last beach day we decided to go back to Lumaha'i. The river was much smaller and just different than the other day we were there. There was a family there with four little girls that would not leave Tessa and Damon alone, and the sisters kept fighting with each other like crazy too. It just wasn't the same kind of experience we had previously and decided to leave. We went to Hanalei Bay, and this beach looked totally different too. There was a ton of stuff washed up on the sand and the water was still really brown and dirty. I don't know how long it takes to recover from flash floods, but it's clearly longer than two days. :)

Tessa and Damon had fun playing in the sand for a while, and then we decided to go back to Bali Hai.
We stopped in town for some lunch and JoJo's. :)
Paul was laughing when he was walking behind me giving Tessa a piggy back ride. The color of our shirts matched perfectly and it looked like we were one person with an extra set of legs in our mid section. Haha!
We spent the afternoon at the pool.
A man came to the pool wearing the same hat I was. We had a good laugh determining who wore it better, me or that man. Haha :)
We got some dinner from a pizza food truck.
It was a long wait :)

Damon thought long and hard about what souvenirs he wanted to buy. He decided on a Comfy, a stuffed dog, a hat, and a sweatshirt.
We played card games that night. It was really fun!

Kauai Day 6

The roads opened up Sunday evening, so we decided to get up early Monday morning and go to Tunnels Beach. There was a slight rainbow over the Bay on the drive down and it was beautiful!!

We were one of the first ones at Tunnels and it was awesome to have some time with most the beach to ourselves.
I went for a walk down the beach and around the bend. Rockwell was very interested in shells this year, and I was able to find some cool ones on my walk.
I also found some heart rocks. It was a good haul!
Isn't she cute?!
We love this beach so much!
Tessa and Damon loved to boogie board and snorkel this trip. That's what they did at every beach they could.
Paul and I took a walk down the beach too. It's just so pretty there!
We had to get Tessa's jumping picture. :)
It was a great day at our favorite place on earth!!
