Rockwell was excited for the Region race. At the Pre-Region meet, they ran a Rookie race for everyone who had never run a high school race and Rockwell's finish time was 19.58.5 He was excited to see his improvement at the end-of-season Region meet.
This time they ran a normal JV race.
Timpanogos boys started out strong!
A couple Mountain View boys caught up with them about halfway through.
Rockwell kept a great, steady pace the whole time!
In the last stretch, it was the two Mountain View boys out front, and then Tate and Rockwell behind them. Rockwell was able to kick it at the end and pass Tate.
He finished 1st for the Timpanogos JV team and 3rd overall!! His time was incredible, at 16.55.3!!!
He was beyond thrilled to run sub-17 as a freshman!! At the beginning of the season, he did not see that happening. Way to go Rockwell!!!!
I thought it was really cool to see Tate come up and hug Rockwell after the race!
He enjoyed the rest of the afternoon cheering on the other Timp teams.
I am in complete awe of Rockwell's time and the fact that he improves so much each race. That is so great that he pushes himself so much at the end when I'm sure he is exhausted. That is an amazing that he is already placing so high as a freshman.
