Rockwell's 11th Birthday

Rockwell turned 11!!
Rockwell loves to say he is a pre-teen. He's always wanted to be older than he is. Whenever Rockwell's in a room with just Paul and me he says, "Well, it's just us adults!" :) When we were at a restaurant with Grandma and Gramps last week, I asked him if he would scoot down a chair so I could sit by Tessa and Damon and help them split up their meal they were sharing. That made it so Paul, Gramps and Rockwell would be sitting at the far end of the table, and he said, "Yep. That way it will be all the men down here."
Rockwell has a great sense of humor and loves to laugh. He loves to watch America's Funniest Videos and funny compilation videos online. When something funny happens in a show he's watching, he will rewind over and over and laugh harder every time. I love to hear him laugh!
Rockwell loves Minecraft, reading, playing with friends, Legos, and exploring outside. He loves collecting rocks, building forts, climbing and doing parkour, and doing anything in water.
I asked Rockwell if he wanted to do a silly face for one of his pictures and he said, "I'm more of a serious face kind of person."
Rockwell is having a great year in 5th grade. He has good friends and enjoys going to Art Club with them. He's excelling in math, and learning a ton about writing. He's proud of himself for the improvements he's making with his writing and I love to see that!
Rockwell is such a great brother to Tessa and Damon. They both love love love when he plays with them. Paul and I were both gone the other night and so Rockwell was in charge of putting Damon to bed. I asked him to read the scriptures and say a prayer with the kids, and he said, "I want to read them a book too and use silly voices while I read it!" He loves responsibility and is very dependable.
Happy birthday Rockwell!! We couldn't love you more if we tried!

Rockwell asked for crepes for his birthday breakfast. Paul went into work a little late so he could make them for him.
He got to have as much screen time as he wanted that afternoon, and then we opened presents when Paul got home.
He was thrilled with his Newton's Cradle, Minecraft Legos and book, squishy zebra, skittles, snorkel gear, and Rainbow Loom.
He spent the rest of the night building his new Legos and making bracelets. He wanted Paul's steak tacos for dinner with brownies and homemade ice cream for dessert.
We loved spending the day celebrating Rockwell!

  2. A wonderful tribute to a wonderful boy! I had no idea that Rockwell had said, "Yep. That way it will be all the men down here," at the restaurant. He is developing a dry wit that I love.
