Rockwell received the Aaronic Priesthood and became a Deacon in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on January 30, 2021.
We had to reschedule the ordination because we were sick with Covid (along with Bishop Wilkey's wife) on the day we were planning to do it. Gramps and Grandma had left for Europe by the time we were able to reschedule, so we missed having them here with us.
We were glad Grandpa and Grandma Ham could join us. Paul gave Rockwell a beautiful ordination blessing, and then Bishop Wilkey gave Rockwell a beautiful blessing to set him apart as the Deacon's Quorum 2nd Counselor. It was very touching to listen to both of those blessings given to Rockwell. He is such a special kid, and makes so many good choices that are helping him to become more like the Savior. I just love seeing the joy he feels when he does what he believes is right, and the desire he feels to continue working and growing. There is a lot to learn about these new responsibilities of being a Priesthood holder and a member of the Deacon's quorum, and a lot of new and intimidating things to do. He has been very brave about the things that have made him nervous, he's asked great questions along the way, and has just dived right in to the new challenges and opportunities. We are so proud of you, Rockwell!!!
He looks so grown up. I'm so glad that it was such a special day.
