Damon cut his first tooth on Wednesday (November 4th). He's been a bit more fussy with that coming in, and there's another one that's going to come in any day now. A couple times he's been in enough pain that I have laid with him to calm him down. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking naps with him! I'm always a little sad when I sleep train my babies. I know it's good for the whole family to do it, but I always miss cuddling with my sweet babies.
We had a couple weeks off of gymnastics, and Rockwell and I were excited to have class again. (I love watching him do something I love so much!) All the kids were sitting on a stair across the room from us waiting to hear what they were going to do next. They had just finished trying a candlestick roll, and one girl was saying quite loudly how she can't do them. Rockwell quickly told her she just needs to practice it. She said again that she can't do them. And Rockwell replied again that she can if she practices them. It was a very proud moment for me. I absolutely LOVE that Rockwell has that mindset already. He knows that we can improve by putting in the effort and time, and that if we aren't where we want to be yet then we keep practicing. Paul and I are working very hard to instill a growth mindset in our children, and it is wonderful to see that Rockwell is willing to do hard things.
Tessa wasn't quite so thrilled to go back to gymnastics, but some rides on my leg seemed to cheer her up.
Damon ate rice cereal for the first time this week. He devoured it. As soon as he saw the spoon come out of the bowl with more cereal on it, he would lean as far as he could to get it in his mouth.
Tessa and I had a lot of fun playing play-dough one morning. We played for over an hour, which is way longer than her attention span is for anything lately.
Grandpa Barth came for dinner Saturday night. Rockwell showed him how well he is reading.
Grandpa brought the kids a dog that walks and barks. Tessa fell in love immediately and they have both had so much fun with this new dog, Charlie.
The kids always have fun when Eden comes and plays.
I'm working on majorly de-junking and organizing our house. I feel like with being pregnant or having a new baby the whole time we've lived here I haven't ever really settled in the way I want to. I was working on the storage room yesterday, and Rockwell was a big help. He loves a big project like this.
After a while Rockwell found an atlas, and then he wasn't too interested in helping anymore. He and Tessa pretended they were traveling everywhere. It was adorable to hear them say where they were going (the desert, America), pretend to fly or drive there, and then explore wherever they had arrived.
I found Tessa reading a book to Damon today. I love seeing things like this.
The other day Rockwell was drawing on the easel in the basement. He told me to come see what he had drawn. It was a picture of me with a sad face. He said that I was sad because I didn't have any kids. He told me to "watch though." He drew a baby in my tummy and then erased my eyes and mouth and changed them to happy eyes and a smile. He said I got a baby in my tummy and then I became happy. "And guess who that baby was. It was ME!" Haha! I'm glad he knows my kids make me happy. :)
I love this post! I love that Rockwell knows that hard things are possible and they take practice! You and Paul do a great job of teaching your kids that, I've learned a lot from you guys! Tessa reading to Damon, adorable!
