Damon was so excited to use the water balloons that Grandma and Gramps gave him! The kids had a fun afternoon with the balloons, sprinkler, and pool.
I took the kids on a hike up Grove Creek to see Old Glory flying.
There is an absolutely giant American flag suspended above the trail.
An organization called Follow The Flag hangs this 400-pound flag every year for the week of the 4th of July. There are flags for each branch of the military and all 50 states lining the trail on the way up to the flag.
I really loved seeing our flag flying, and reading the mission statement from Follow The Flag about the spirit of the American flag having a way of making us all feel connected.
I took so many pictures on this hike! The flag was beautiful from every new angle we saw.
The kids were such good sports about all my pictures. It was one of those amazing mornings, where we all just loved the hike and had such a great time together.
I'm sure a big part of it was that we didn't have a distance or destination in mind. We stopped and explored whatever the kids wanted to. It was a pretty steep hike, and Rockwell and Tessa were both so sweet helping Damon on the difficult parts.
We found three little paths that led down to the creek, and we loved playing in the water at each spot.
We could hardly keep up with Tessa on the way up the trail. She was just loving it and wanted to lead the way.
We got to a point where we could see the flag with the valley and lake behind it, and it was beautiful.
We went to Leatherby's again to try the new Churro ice cream. It was seriously delicious!
Katie told Damon she was going to throw him a pool party when he got his cast off. She said it would be extra special because it would be to celebrate him. Damon requested water balloons and popsicles for his party. He was so excited to go to his party on Thursday! He had a blast!!
Rockwell has started practicing with his Provo Fury soccer team again. It's been so good for him to be around friends and be actively practicing soccer again. Tessa, Hallee, and Damon played at the park during practice this week. It was hot, but they had a lot of fun.
I went to Hale Center Theatre with my sisters last night to see Bright Star.
Al and Mel have both seen it before and told us how amazing it is. Lori and I were just as impressed as they said we would be with it. I really loved this one, and really enjoyed my night out with my sisters!

We thought that was a good point to turn around and head back down.
I've never been thanked so much for taking the kids on a hike. It was a really great adventure for us!

Glad to see that Damon could finally use his birthday present and that he got his own personal post-cast party. You go on so many great hikes. That one must have been pretty special!
ReplyDeleteThose are great pictures of the kids on the hike.
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you all enjoyed that hike so much! How sweet of Katie to tell Damon she'd have a party for him when he got his cast off! I'm glad you got to see Bright Star too.
