School Week 31

Rockwell finished making his mug in art club. I'm so impressed with all they get to do there.

He finished his state report on Michigan this week. He worked so hard to get all of his projects finished early so he won't have to worry about any school work on our trip to Hawaii. His state report was 3 pages typed as well as a poster. He also turned in a book report and project a few weeks early. I've just got to acknowledge how much his writing has improved this year. The difference between the first book report he wrote in 5th grade, and this state report and final book report was such a difference! It was so satisfying to watch him put voice into his writing, recognize things that needed to be changed, and edit his own work. It was a lot of learning and growth for him this year, and I loved to see him truly do his best on all of these writing projects.

Matt, Marissa, and Baby Asher are in town and they came over and visited on Wednesday. The kids love love love Baby Asher, and yes they always call him Baby Asher even though he's running around and saying some words now. :)
It was really fun to see the Cheney family. We tried to get a good picture of all the kids, but this was the best we could do. :)

We went to Grandma and Gramps' house for an Easter celebration Friday night. Dinner was delicious, and we enjoyed the activity learning about Christ's resurrection while we ate. Cade, Emilie, and Matt hid the eggs outside after dinner. Grandma got everyone their own unique eggs this year, plus a golden egg, and instructed the hiders to make it tricky for the kids this year.
Damon was so excited when he found his golden egg!!
Cade, Emilie and Matt did a great job hiding the eggs. Rockwell and Tessa climbed a tree at one point to get a different perspective on the yard. It worked!
They all thought it was hilarious that Matt hid an egg in the pig's bum. :)
Thanks for making such a fun night for the family Grandma!!

Since we're going to Hawaii on Easter Day, I called the Easter Bunny and asked him to come on Saturday instead. He said yes. :)
Our egg hunt was nowhere near as challenging as the one at Grandma's house, but the kids enjoyed finding more eggs and getting more candy. They also liked the activities in their baskets.

We spent the rest of the day going to 4 different Walgreen's to get our Covid tests that will allow us into Hawaii without quarantining. Getting those tests scheduled was the most stressful part of getting ready for our trip! The Walgreen's tests were in crazy high demand the past two weeks since Utah has its spring breaks and apparently everyone wants to spend theirs in Hawaii. Paul tool Rockwell to his test in Orem while Tessa, Damon, and I drove up to Salt Lake, Kearns, and Taylorsville for ours. Paul's was in Kearns also, but later in the day so he drove up on his own later. It made for a crazy day, but was worth it because the only other option for tests was at the airport, which would have cost us $1,000!! While we were waiting for Damon's appointment, his tooth fell out.
We stopped by Mel's house to drop off some chairs and give Ofa her wedding present. Tessa and Damon were so excited to play with Pepper! She's a really cute dog.

  1. That's so great that Rockwell made his own mug and it looked great! His poster really looked great too and isn't it rewarding to see your children grow so much and improve in their writing? You've got very gifted children and they've been taught so well by you and Paul. It looks like you had a great early Easter! I loved the look on Damon's face in the picture of him with his basket! Have a great time in Hawaii!!

  3. I love that Rockwell did his report on my home state. Yea for Rockwell and Michigan! It was fun to watch the kids search so diligently for those eggs and be so excited each time they found one. Good times...
