Volleyball Games

Volleyball season started a couple weeks ago. It has been a lot for Rockwell to be on the track team and the volleyball team at the same time. He has track practice every day after school, and on Tuesdays/Thursdays he has volleyball practice for a couple hours as well. He has about 30 minutes in between practices to scarf down some food. He also has 2 volleyball games every Wednesday night. Megan and I talk a lot about how tired and hungry Rockwell and Joe are all the time now. :) They're sure having fun though!

Oak Canyon wanted to highlight the first ever freshman volleyball team, so Aubrey sent in a picture of all the athletes from Oak Canyon. It's a really great group of boys!

Their first game was against Westlake, and they were able to pull off the win in 3 matches. Yay! Then they played American Fork and won that game in 2 matches. They were so excited to win both their first games!!

Rockwell played great at the net again! That left corner seems to be his sweet spot.

The schedule came out the next week and they were playing two A teams instead of B teams. I guess it's called a ladder system, so the next week's schedule depends on the wins and losses from the week before. Our Camp Kickoff was the same night as Rockwell's games, and I felt like I needed to be there since I'm assistant camp director. I ran out as soon as it was over though and made it to his second game. Paul sent me some videos from the first game against Lehi. It went to 3 matches, and the 3rd was called because of time. Lehi was ahead at that point, so they won the game. The next game was against American Fork and it went to 3 matches as well, but sadly American Fork won it. I know the boys were so disappointed to lose, but Paul and I were so impressed with how close it was in both games when they were playing A teams. After a couple days, Rockwell was able to look at it in that way and feel better about it all.
He was sure exhausted by the time the games were finished. He had a track meet that afternoon, and then played every minute of both volleyball games that night.

  1. I need to come watch some games. That is so cool that he is on the High School team.
