Park City allows 8 runners in the Varsity race so Rockwell ran Varsity there.
The course is mostly in a mountain, so we only get to see them pass once, maybe twice if you can run fast. It's a gravelly, dirty trail so they wear normal running shoes instead of spikes.
He had an awesome race and finished 7th on the team.
He placed 61st with a time of 16:48.0
Finishing 7th on the team meant he got to race Varsity at Border Wars too. This race was in Taylorsville, so Grandpa and Mel came to watch.
We saw him pass a few times and then hurried over to the finish line. We waited and waited and didn't see him come. After long enough, Paul and I started to worry. We split up and went to look for him. It was an enormous race too, so it was hard to see anyone. Eventually we found him and he was fine. Phew! He finished 156th with a time of 16:50.93.
When we got home and I watched the videos I took from the race, I could see Rockwell pass through the finish line right as we got there and I started filming. We got there just in time but didn't see him. Haha.
It was fun to have Grandpa and Mel there!
I bet that was so scary when you didn't realize he had already finished. So fun that Mel and dad were there!
