Gymnastics Meet

Tessa had an inner squad gymnastics meet last week. Her competition season will start next month, so they did a meet so the new girls can learn how a meet runs and they can all practice their routines in front of a crowd.
We got seats right in front of the floor, and it was so funny to watch the girls playing Hands Up Stands Up before their warm-up started. That game played by a bunch of gymnasts is like a whole different game. Haha! They all stay up for so long, and do all different kinds of hand stands.
It was so fun to see the routines Tessa's been learning. She has made so much progress since joining the team! She looked a lot more steady on the beam.
Her floor routine is really cute! She got her high score on the floor, and really enjoys that event.
She's moved to the next level of vault, where they vault over a tall mat. She looked great on that.
They're doing the same bar routine that they've had for a while, but she sure does a great job on it.
They only had two judges, so it was a really long meet. But I love watching gymnastics, so I didn't mind at all. Grandma Ham, Mel, and Grandma & Gramps Clark came to watch. Sadly, Mel & Grandma Ham had to leave halfway through, but it was so nice of them to come for what they could! We went to Cafe Rio with Grandma & Gramps after the meet. I can't believe how many hours Grandma spent in the car that week to watch all the kids perform!! So nice of her!
I was worried about doing Tessa's hair in a way that it would stay out of her face, and would also stay put for the whole meet. We practiced the night before and luckily came up with something that worked really well. When we took it out after her meet, it was all gorgeous and curly. Tess wanted a picture of it. :)

  1. Yes, I think I spent 12 hours in the car over the 4 days in a row that I was there. It was great watching Tessa. You sure got some great photos of her.

  3. That picture of Tessa jumping on the beam is amazing! Her hair looks so good. The curly hair picture is beautiful too. I'm sad we missed it.
