Cross Country Camp

Rockwell was so excited to go to the cross country High Altitude Camp in Idaho this summer. The team loves this camp!!

They spent 5 days at the Benson family cabin. They ran morning and night runs every day, did a service project, tubed a river, had workshops on health, wellness, and nutrition, played games, had competitions, cooked, cleaned, and had a blast together as a team.
Rockwell came home with the Brown Destiny. :) Each year, this stick gets passed on to one male athlete (the girls pass down a dreamcatcher), and Rockwell was chosen this year. He seriously felt honored because it's never been given to a Freshman before. The person who gets it ties one of their shoelaces on the stick and carves their name into it. Next year at camp, he'll pass it on to someone else.
The last night at camp, the boy who had Brown Destiny the past year reads this "scripture" and presents the stick to another athlete. It's just one of those funny traditions the team has. I really like that the team has a tradition of focusing on being good people and good athletes, and they have so much fun working so hard and growing together.

  1. What a cool experience! That is awesome he got Brown Destiny. What a cool tradition and Rockwell definitely deserves that. He has all of those great characteristics and then some, he is such well rounded, good kid!
