Everyday Adventures

Tessa fell off her penny board and took quite the hit to her chin. :(

The next week, Rockwell came home from cross country practice and was covered in dirt and scratches from falling on the trail. :( I hate when my kids get hurt!

I went to see Legally Blonde at the West Valley Theatre with the Reives girls and Lori and Elena. That was a lot of fun.
The family hung out while Matt, Lori & Elena were in town for Elijah's wedding. Lori brought some puzzles that my mom enjoyed doing.

Tessa went and got her nails done by Jane. They turned out really cute!

We enjoyed putting a new puzzle together while we watched the 2024 Summer Olympics.

We had the craziest hail storm one evening. It had hailed a little bit that afternoon, and we thought it was crazy to have hail in August. But then a couple hours later, we had a hail storm like I've never seen! The hail was quarter-size, and it was coming down so fast and hard! It was blowing every which way, and so our whole deck (which is completely covered!) was covered in hail and leaves and sticks. The hail was coming down so hard that it knocked leaves and sticks off all the trees and brought all that down with it.
It was one of those events that you just had to stop what you were doing and watch it in disbelief.
It was pretty cool to see people's reactions when the storm stopped. The neighbors all reached out to each other to see if everyone was okay. There were people out everywhere checking on each other and helping anyone who needed it. Rockwell's team were all sending videos to each other of their streets flooding, their garbage cans floating away down the street, or of them opening their car door while stopped on State Street and the water flowing into their car!!! State Street was a river! We went outside and saw Kim & Shiree throwing buckets of water out of the stairwell down to their Airbnb apartment. I put on some warm clothes and headed over there to help. Kim was able to get the water out of the stairwell while Shiree and I cleaned up all the water inside the apartment. Rockwell, Damon and Paul (along with many other neighbors) grabbed all of our buckets and went to help the Burrough's family. Their driveway slants downward toward their house, and it was real bad for them. Jan had such a good attitude about it and just accepted that they'll have to do a whole basement renovation. The boys were very impressed with how Jan handled a really hard situation.
When it was time to pick Tessa up from gymnastics, there were lakes to drive through down by her gym in Lindon. I was concerned about making it through them, but luckily the van handled it okay. There was a smaller car that got stuck in this lake, but luckily a dad that had just picked up his girls from gym was able to help him out to dry ground. Tessa said it was really hard to hear her coaches and friends talking during the storm because the hail was pounding on the roof of their gym so hard. It was seriously just one of those once-in-a-lifetime kind of storms.
The kids went back to school two days after the storm, and I spent the entire school day cleaning up the back yard and a part of the front yard. The next day, I spent a few more hours finishing up the front yard. There was a thick layer of leaves and sticks covering every surface outside. It was nuts! I discovered that the hail had broken through our stone fire pit, and almost all of our flowers in the pots were destroyed. :(
It sure felt good to get everything cleaned up!

  1. I can't believe that storm, that is crazy. I'm sorry you had all of that damage. I loved hearing about your neighborhood checking on each other and helping each other out. People are good!
