Youth Overnighter

Our ward did our youth overnighter at Heber Valley Camp this year. We left Friday afternoon as soon as school was out and came back Saturday evening. Bishop wanted to fit in as many activities as possible, and so we went straight to our first challenge course when we got there.

The Younger Young Women class, Deacons, and Teachers were in a group, and the Older Young Women class and the Priests were in a group. I loved that Tessa and Rockwell were both in my group. It was really fun to watch both of them have a blast on all the ropes courses. The first course we went to was perfect because we could all do it at the same time.

I sure love working with Talia, Jill, and Lindsay. We have a lot of fun together!
Tessa loved the zip line!
My favorite part was the free fall belay.
We met up with the older group at the Tomahawk Toss.
And then went to our campsite after that. We unloaded our gear into our cabins and then had dinner in the pavilion. After dinner, Rockwell, Afton, and Jane had fun games prepared for everyone.
The planning committee had giant bowties that were passed around if you said the secret phrase. :)
Bishop Searle, President Jones and Angela shared some thoughts and their testimonies before we all headed to our cabins for the night.
We made a glow-in-the-dark ball and played volleyball in our cabin before we went to sleep. We hung out a little in the morning and did everyone's hair before going out to breakfast.
We did another challenge course after breakfast, but this one was only one person at a time on it. It had a really long zip line though, so that was a lot of fun. One of the Deacons thought it sounded like more fun to time each person as they went instead of participating himself. It was pretty funny to watch everyone try to beat each other's times.
Both groups went to rock climbing together.
We were supposed to go on a hike, but our group was having too much fun at the challenge courses so we didn't have time for the hike. We played 9-square instead while we waited for lunch.
After lunch we all went to the lake.
There were kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats. Tessa went out on a paddle boat with her friends. Rockwell stayed on the sand and played 9-square with his friends.
After the lake, our group went to one last challenge course. This one had another awesome zip line, but it was one person at a time again. Luckily they had a sand box at every course. The kids had fun in those while they were waiting for their turn.
The missionaries told Tessa that she was the perfect size to do a pose up in the sky. They said they would hold her up while her leaders took a picture. She thought that was fun!
After that course, we all went back to camp, loaded our stuff in the trailer, cleaned our cabins, and then headed home. It was a really fun weekend!!
We packed a whole lot of physical activities in, and didn't get much sleep, and all the girls in our car fell asleep on the way home. Kids and leaders alike were all exhausted when we got home!
