School Week 18

Damon passed off all of his sight word lists for the year and earned his gold medal. I love love loved to see him so proud of himself for accomplishing this.

The kids wrote their letters to Santa. Damon asked for a vacuum, Tessa asked for a Present Pet, and Rockwell asked for some Ninjago Legos.

I took the kids up to Vivian Park in Provo Canyon after school on Tuesday. My friend had posted about the methane gas bubbles frozen underneath the river up there, and I was dying to get outside in some fresh air. I wasn't sure what to expect exactly, but we were all pleasantly surprised with how frozen the river was at that spot and how safe we felt running and sliding around on it.
The bubbles were really cool. Tessa was so excited to find a heart-shaped one, and a humungous one. :)
We stayed and played until we were too cold, and then headed back home. It was a fun new adventure.

I got a call from Mr LaBare Thursday morning saying that Rockwell needed to come home to be quarantined because somebody that he sits by in class tested positive for Covid. Rockwell didn't mind getting an early start on his Christmas break at all. :) The rest of the family didn't need to quarantine unless Rockwell showed any symptoms, so I dropped him off at home and then went back over to the school to help in Damon's class. He and Damon had a good time together that afternoon and on Friday since Damon didn't have school that day anyway. They played in the snow and drank hot chocolate and played video games together.

Tessa had a "recital" in her dance class on Thursday. They wore their favorite Christmas pajamas and performed two songs. She and Hallee are in a Ballet/Jazz/Tap combo class this year. Their dances were ballet and jazz this time, and both girls did an awesome job. They're both excited to start learning tap soon.
The girls' families could come to the big studio and watch them perform. I'm glad they did that since they didn't have a Christmas recital this year.

Al took her kids sledding on Friday and invited us to come along too. We met them at Rock Canyon Park and had a blast sledding. There were a lot of grassy areas here and there, but we were still able to slide down without a problem.
The hill was pretty steep, and there was an asphalt trail at the bottom that we slid over. I was nervous about Damon going down by himself. He wasn't very happy about that, but luckily there were plenty of people who were willing to ride with him. :)
It was nice to get out and do something fun in the snowy weather. Thanks for the invite Al!

Al and I took Lindy to dinner Friday night for her birthday. She wanted Thai food. It was delicious, and a lot of fun to spend some time with her and Al.

The kids and I went over to Al's on Saturday to play. Caitlyn showed them all how to melt crayons into fun shapes. They loved that!
