We were so excited for another family trip to Kauai!!!
We always love passing under this sign at the airport!
We went to McDonald's for dinner after landing. A group of Young Men and their leaders came in wearing Walk With Me shirts. We thought it was fun to see some LDS youth there. Tessa noticed that they had the wrong scripture on their shirts though. The youth theme this year is Moses 6:34, where Jesus invites Moses to walk with Him, but theirs said Moses 6:24. We looked that one up to see what it says.
It's not nearly as inspiring. Hahaha!!
We stayed at the Bali Hai Villas again. We love it there!
When we were in Pinecrest, we were sitting at the lake and talking about what Damon will be like as a teenager. Tessa started singing, "I'm just a teenage dirtbag baby." And then Paul immediately started singing, "Feliz navidad" in a really whiny voice. We were all very confused, and Paul was shocked none of us knew why he had randomly broken out in Christmas music. It was apparently from a funny video of a blow-up Rudolph where his antlers had deflated and were hanging over his face looking like an angsty teen's hairdo, and the voice on the video was singing Feliz Navidad in an angsty voice. Paul assumed we had all seen the video and would get the reference, but none of us had seen it. Matt tried to find the video on his phone, but internet and cell service is basically non-existent in Pinecrest. It finally loaded though, and then we were able to watch it and finally understand Paul's joke. :)
We got in the car to drive to Hanalei Bay Sunday morning and Rockwell pointed out this rooster that looked like the Feliz Navidad angsty teen with his comb hanging over his face. Tessa said, "Cock-a-doodle-doo" in a really angsty voice and we laughed so hard!! It was hilarious!
Hanalei Bay had big enough waves that day that the kids could do some boogie boarding.
We did some souvenir shopping and then had dinner at Chicken in a Barrel.
The Doyle surfboards were still there!
We sure do love Damon Doyle!!
We tried to get shave ice at JoJo's, but the guy at the register told us no. :) I told him that Rockwell has nut allergies and he immediately said, "Don't eat here." I told him that we've eaten there many many times, and they've always used a clean scoop and clean gloves, but he said, "No. If he has allergies, he should not eat here." He refused to take our order. It was so weird. We walked away, and a family came up to us and said their daughter has tree nut allergies too and has been eating there all week. They heard the whole exchange and the mom said, "I don't know who this clown is! All the other workers have been fine serving our daughter all week." It was pretty funny. I didn't feel like making a big thing by going to the workers in the back and asking them to take our order, so we just went to North Shore Shave Ice by our condo instead.
Paul was too full for a shave ice, and we all thought he was crazy. :)
