We took surfing lessons at Hanalei Bay Tuesday morning. Paul wasn't interested in surfing, he said he would be the photographer. :)
It was the perfect day for surfing!
Our instructor, Ari, met us on the beach with our boards and taught us the form and techniques.
Then we headed out to the waves!
The waves were great that day, they kept coming one right after another. They were strong enough to go all the way to shore, but not huge. They were perfect learning waves.
We were each able to ride a bunch of waves!
It was a blast! By the end of the lesson we were all paddling and catching the waves on our own. Ari challenged us to switch our feet mid-wave for something fun and new to try after we had the hang of it. The kids had fun with that.
We worked up an appetite! We went to Chicken in a Barrel again. So yummy!
That evening we walked over to Turtle Cave at low tide. I find it sad that they have to make signs that say 'Please never ride the turtles'.
It was a short hike down the cliffside.
It was very steep though. Gratefully, there were ropes to hold on to in some parts.
I still managed to fall though. It was a hard one too. I hurt my shoulder pretty good, as well as my pride. :)
It was sure pretty when we got to the cave though!
We left our shoes on the rocks and walked into the cave.
We walked all the way through the cave out to the opening on the other side, but sadly there weren't any turtles.
It was such a pretty area, so we stayed and enjoyed the beauty for a while.
Tessa had some fun poses for her photo shoot. Haha!
It was fun to explore a new place. We'll have to go back again next trip and hopefully see some turtles in the cave. :)
